Darek and Marta from Poznan came to Finland on Friday through the Via Baltica. They will spend their holidays driving and cycling around the country, but before going north they stayed at my place in Vantaa for 4 nights.
Darek i Marta z Poznania od razu czuli sie tak jak w domu bowiem palmiarnia poznanska jest podobna do Talvipuutarha (”ogród zimowy”) w Helsinkach.
Ensimmäisenä päivänä kävimme talvipuutarhassa ja kävelimme töölönlahdella amerikkalaisen Bobin kanssa, joka toi tuliaisia New Yorkista.
Our American friend Bob took a picture of the three of us by the Töölö bay. Before the walk we had been up in the Olympic Stadium tower 72 m high after parking our car at the only big parking area that is free of charge in Helsinki. View from the tower (cars on the right).
Siedzilismy w parku Esplanadi w centrum miasta i widzielismy posagi ktore widac w zdjeciu. No i niespodzianka: obok nas na lawce siedzieli tez Polacy! Porozmawialismy z nimi troche, chcieli pojechac do Uusikaupunki na slub kolezanki. Kiedy dowiedzieli sie ze jestem katolikiem i ze bylem na pielgrzymkach, powiedzieli ze oni z kolei sa protestantami:D! Na pewno bedziemy w kontakcie przez poczte elektroniczna.
Espalla istuessamme tutustuimme puolalaisiin, jotka sattuivat istumaan viereisellä penkillä. Pian kävi ilmi, että olen suomalainen pyhiinvaelluksilla ollut katolilainen, ja yllätykseksemme he kertoivat olevansa vapaiden suuntien protestantteja! Vaihdoimme mailiosoitteita ja jatkoimme matkaa katedraalikierrokselle.
After sitting in Esplanadi park for a while we headed to 3 different Cathedrals, the Orthodox (big red), Catholic (not so big red) and Lutheran (big white). Then we made our way to the Missionaries of Charity or sisters of Mother Teresa. On the way Darek saw a beautiful car (well, he actually saw quite a lot of them, he was in heaven). After the Mass and tea we met a famous hockey player Teemu Selänne and the even more famous Stanley Cup which he won in America recently.
U Misjonarek Milosci czyli sióstr Matki Teresy bylismy na Mszy ktora odprawil fajny ks. Filipinczyk po angielsku. Potem pilismy herbate i rozmawialismy m.in. z nowa siostra Etienne. Na lewo drugi Darek (raczej jego ramie i glowa), tez z Poznania:) Pozniej w centrum miasta zobaczilysmy bardzo slynnego sportowca Teemu Selänne i Stanley Cup ktory wygral (w hokeju na lodzie w Stanach).
Äiti Teresan sisarten luona vietetyn messun ja sitä seuranneen teehetken jälkeen näimme keskustassa Teemu Selänteen ja jättikokoisen Stanley Cup-pokaalin. Päivä oli kuitenkin ollut pitkä ja lähdimme pian viimeiselle kävelylle kohti stadionin parkkipaikkaa, jossa automme odotti. Seuraavana päivänä oli herättävä aikaisin…
On the way to the car we saw a most beautiful sauna floating on water in the Töölö bay…
