Poland – Puola 8.6. + extra bonus

Well it’s time to end the week and end our story too with the events of the last morning, some extra pictures and a bonus section. On Friday morning nothing special happened, we took a shower, took our bags, gave the keys to the Norwegian speaking guy nextdoor, took two buses to the airport, bought some Polish chocolate and wodka, visited the airport chapel and flew back home to Finland. Before getting on the plane we stopped at ”Coffee heaven” to have our last cup of coffee/hot chocolate – or cacao, whichever, Poles claim there’s a difference. We also ran into the cherry-issue on the trip – Poles have two words also for cherry and they claim they’re totally different (one is sweet, the other not).

On koittanut viikonloppu ja kertomuksemme loppu. Tässä postauksessa käydään läpi viimeisen aamun tapahtumat, julkaistaan extra-kuvia ja pieni bonus-osio matkan huvituksista. Perjantaiaamuna ei oikeastaan tapahtunut mitään sen kummempaa. Kävimme suihkussa, annoimme avaimet norjaa puhuvalle naapurille ja matkasimme kahdella bussilla lentokentälle. Ositmme puolalaista suklaata ja vodkaa, kävimme lentokentän kappelissa ja lensimme takaisin koti-Suomeen. Ennen koneeseen astumista pysähdyimme ”Coffee heaven” – nimiseen paikkaan juomaan viimeiset kupposet kahvia/kaakaota – tai kuumaa suklaata, ihan sama, puolalaisten mielestä niillä on jotain eroa. Matkalla törmättiin siihenkin, että puolalaisille kirsikka ei ole vain kirsikka vaan sillekin on kaksi eri sanaa jotka on kuulemma ihan erilaisia keskenään (toinen makea, toinen ei).

Bonus

Time for some Bonus fun then. The first and perhaps funniest thing is a combination of many things actually. First of all Fr.Pawel never seemed to get Jason’s name right. He called him Jansson, Jenson, Johnson, Jeson and whatnot:) This was funny enough but then we met the Kurd from Sweden and he encouraged us to go to clubs and find ”heta tjejer”, that is, party and pleasure was his advice to us. And then thinking about the party with the nuns and priests I made a Swedish accent imitation of the word ”party” (with the ”r” and the ”t” pronounced too long) and so we joked about Jansson and partying a lot – click here to enjoy a short clip:)

Bonuksen aika. Ensimmäinen ja yksi hauskimmista on useiden juttujen yhdistelmä. Ensinnäkin isä Pawel sanoi Jasonin nimen lähes aina väärin – hän kutsui häntä Janssoniksi, Jensoniksi, Johnssoniksi, Jesoniksi ja vaikka miksi:) Se oli jo tarpeeksi hauskaa, mutta sitten tapaamamme Ruotsissa asuva kurdi kehotti meitä menemään klubeihin löytämään ”heta tjejer”. Hänen neuvonsa oli siis bailaaminen ja nautinto, ja sitten kun yhdistin päässäni Janssonin, tämän miehen ja nunnien ja pappien bailut, rupesin hokemaan ruotsalaista imitaatiota sanasta ”party” (jossa ”r” ja ”t” lausutaan liian pitkinä), ja Jason omaksui vitsin heti. Other things we laughed at included:
* Emil’s incapability of drinking more than one glass of wine/one can of beer (you see it in the balance and conduct) and as a contrast the capability (or rather tendency) to drink very fast drinks that could (and perhaps should) be drunk much more slowly. Also, the contrast between Emil’s +-0 (except the Irish coffee at the end!) and Jason’s..well, almost obsessive sympathy for&inclination/need to get a hold of a cup of coffee
* Emil’s walking at least 2 m ahead all the time figuring out which way to go, but being confused almost at every new turning. Also, Emil’s forgetfulness of where all important things are:s
* Jason’s friendly teasing and ’slight’ exaggeration whenever he’d tell stories of what had happened during the day. Once he tied his camera around his wrist and when throwing a coin into the lucky waters of Wieliczka he pretended to accidentally throw his camera as well. I reacted a bit and was fooled, but when Jason told the story to Damian my reaction had been evolved into a whole Hollywood scene, hilarious to watch but far from reality:)

Muita asioita, joille naurettiin, olivat mm. seuraavat:
* Emilin kyvyttömyys juoda yhtä viinilasia/oluttölkkiä enempää (se näkyy tasapainossa ja käytöksessä), ja toisaalta kyky (tai taipumus) juoda harvinaisen nopeasti juomat, jotka voisi (ja ehkä pitäisi) juoda paljon hitaammin. Myös kontrasti Emilin kahvinjuonnin nollatoleranssin (paitsi lopun Irish kohvi) ja Jasonin lähes pakkomielteisen kahvitarpeen välillä.
* Emilin vähintään 2 m edellä käveleminen ja tiennäyttäminen/-johtaminen, mutta jatkuva oikeasta suunnasta pihalla oleminen:s Samoin Emilin hajamielisyys siitä, missä kaikki tärkeät asiat olivatkaan:s
* Jasonin kaverillinen kiusaaminen/piikittely/kuittailu sekä ’lievä’ liioittelu tarinankerronnassa. Kerran hän sitoi kameransa ranteensa ympärille, ja kun hän oli heittämässä kolikkoa Wieliczkan onnenlampeen, näytti siltä, että kamera olisi lähtenyt lentoon rahan mukana. Reagoin vähän ja tulin huijatuksi, mutta kun Jason kertoi tarinan Damianille, reaktioni oli kehitetty jo kokonaiseksi Hollywood-kohtaukseksi, äärimmäisen hupaisaa katseltavaa mutta kaukana todellisuudesta:)

As we are both over 190cm our height was mentioned a couple of times. Jason and the sister from the Philippines:

We had a lot of fun with Polish toilets, some of which have an unnecessary addition which I won’t describe in detail here you either know it or then you’ll have to experience it when you go to Poland. Here’s a picture of the deepest toilet in Poland, in Wieliczka

Saimme paljon hupia puolalaisista vessoista. Jotkut niistä sisältävät ylimääräisen lisän, jota en lähde tässä kuvailemaan, joko tiedät, mistä on kyse, tai sitten saat kokea sen jonain päivänä. Kutsuimme näitä vessoja ”tarjotinvessoiksi” – tässä taas kuva Puolan syvimmästä vessasta Wieliczkasta.

Poles have a funny tendency to add the definite article to words and places where it’s not needed. In this little cafe in the Wadowice you could buy the cakes:

Puolalaisilla on hauska taipumus lisätä englannissa artikkeli ”the” sinne, mihin sitä ei tarvita. Tässä kahvilassa Wadowicessa voi ostaa kakkuja.

In Wadowice the Italian nightmare: pizza with pineapple and banana, and the best part, outside the picture though, ketchup!

In Cracow we also saw a Lutheran church! A slight contrast to the modern Finnish Lutheran parish church buildings:

Krakovassa näimme myös luterilaisen kirkon! Pieni ero moderneihin suomalaisiin luterilaisiin seurakuntakirkkorakennuksiin!
